MUSIC | Erykah Badu's - "But You Caint Use My Phone"

Greetings, Greetings Creatives!

It's been a smooth five+ years since Mz. Badu has last released some music and her latest project "But You Caint Use My Phone" is making all the hotline's bling *pun intended*

I wouldn't call this an album nor a mixtape, not in the tradition sense; but rather a collection of thoughts built around different subgenres and era. The songs are not full-fledged nor is there a concrete theme, besides it. Her songs incorporate pieces from different artists and eras such as Usher's "U Don't Have To Call", New Edition's "Mr. Telephone Man", and her own "Tyrone" and other classics. The 'mixtape' released over the Thanksgiving holiday, has eleven phone-themed tracks including her jazzy reinterpretation of Drake's "Hotline Bling".

My favorite songs include "Caint Use My Phone", "Cel U Lar Device", "U Don't Have to Call", "Phone Down",  and "Hello" featuring her ex-beau Andre 3000. This project is perfect for the neo-soul, classic Badu listener. It's simply organic, witty, soulful! However, it still offers the classic eccentricity and funk that Erykah always provides; thus making it an all around treasure. Available via Motown and Apple Music.

BUT YOU CAINT USE MY PHONE!
