FOOD | Ojala Comida Mexicana

Hey Creatives!

TGIFF!! (Thank God It's Foodie Friday's) - you like that huh?! lol
So let’s get straight to it. One thing for sure and two things for certain is that we luhhhh us some food here and on top of that, is a good deal! Can we say #teamfrugal?!

I love me a good ol’ happy hour situation, half-off drinks and food! Ojala Comida Mexiana located at 413 Myrtle Ave, Brooklyn NY 11205 "takes on a modern interpretation of authentic Mexican food with authentic and delicious drinks." I had been to that same location when it was GB Crown Tavern, I wonder what happened to them. To be frank, I do feel that it's the same owners; they just rebranded.

Anywhoo! Monday-Friday from 4-7pm, drinks (mojito's, margarita's, cosmo's, sangria, beer, cider ) are $6, they do charge $1 for any added flavor, i.e, mango, passion fruit etc.

El menu

I started with the passion fruit mojitio. I'm not sure if they used a passion fruit mix or an actual passion fruit, but something about it was off, yet still drinkable.

For the appetizer, we started with the calamari. It was accompanied with a spicy chipotle aioli that was simply delicious. The calamari was fried to perfection.

I do love a good mojito and I wanted to try the coconut mojito. It was sooo good! The coconut added this warmth to drink. After taking a sip, I was transported to a beach in Tulum, Mexico.

I was in the mood for tacos and what other place would you go to besides a Mexican Restaurant.

I ordered the beer battered fish (smoky chipotle aioli sauce, cabbage slaw). Baybeee let me tell you, it was so bomb! The fish was nice a crispy with faint flavor of beer. The aioli paired with the fish was dynamite. A new fave!

Chicken tinga tacos (chipotle braised chicken)

The chicken is pulled, juicy and flavorful. The guac was a nice addition for texture and flavor. As always, I requested for some hot sauce and it met up to my standards. Between the fish and the chicken tacos, I'd gladly choose the fish.

Ojala is an outstanding restaurant! The food is delicious, fresh, authentic and reasonably priced.  Dishes are plated beautifully. the service is really great. The restaurant doesn't have the biggest space -  the staff is very attentive and helpful. I will definitely be frequenting Ojala.
