MUSIC | Kanye West's - The Life of Pablo

Hey Creatives!

Zamn Zaddy back at it again with another album review!! *lol couldn't help it*.
Some weeks back, Kanye logged onto to Twitter to proclaim his latest project TLOP to be "the album of life". Kanye udoutabdly being one of the best album artist in hiphop released his seventh solo LP on February 14th, 2016 exclusively on TIDAL and it is nothing like his previous projects.

Kanye proclaims The Life of Pablo to be a "gospel" album. Although it's one of the more positive and uplifting records in his repertoire, it being a "gospel" album, NAH! It does however imply an exploration of a higher power/being, which is not something Kanye infuses often. TLOP is a project that constantly changes at a deeper level, what you heard the first you listened to the album will definitely expand the more you listen from adjusted mixes to new guests and etc. I consider TLOP as a well-executed-organized-mess. Yes, that indeed is a major contradiction, however, when speaking of Kanye and his work no stone is ever unturned. It is beautiful, messy, mixed-up collection of 18 songs. This albums forces you to contemplate both the undeniably of genius, platitude of rude, senseless provocation on a minute-to-minute basis. It grabs elements form Mr. West's extraordinary discography. This project is far different from his previous tightly constructed works from '808s and Heartbreak', to 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' and etc.

Who is Pablo and why is Pablo relevant? Depending on how you interpret the album, you are probably, if not definitely thinking of a few inspirations that may have paved the way for TLOP. Apostle Paul (being one of the most powerful messengers of the 20th century - hence the gospel album proclamation),  Pablo Escobar (a notorious drug lord), Pablo Picasso (one of the most influential and revolutionary artist of all time; cubism.) The answer is...
Well, it is up to you. I do believe that all three of them were definitely influential in the album process especially in Kanye's references and even his album cover.

Kanye remaining true to himself, talks about how much he loves himself, biblical comparison with Joseph, but also talks about his depression (lexapro reference) -- which is something we do not get - ever! Songs like "FML" featuring The Weeknd represent dueling sensibility; it is dark, chilly and sparse, but turns into a self-examination of how Kanye feels about his family.

Few of my favorite songs include: Ultra Light Beam, Father Stretch My Hands Pt 1 and Pt2 (the transition tho)<3 i="">, I Love Kanye, Famous, Low Lights and No More Parties in LA.

Thank you for reading! If you have not listened, kindly do so. Leave a comment below and let's discuss opinions.
