FOOD | A Day in Williamsburg

Hey Creatives,

There are many, many, MANY things that I love and food always seems to reign supreme. My friend Emily and I perused the neighborhood of North Williamsburg, Brooklyn in search of good food and even better vibes and we found  The Brooklyn Star. A casual Southern fused restaurant located on 593 Lorimer St  BrooklynNY 11211.

The Brooklyn Star offers a small, cozy and well lit dining room with communal tables, and a few booths for larger parties. Upon our arrival, we walked through the bar area which was buzzing and I was glancing at plates to see which meals looked appetizing. We then were greeted and seated by the hostess, we were seated on a communal table, then later asked for the individual table.

Now, to the food! To start, I ordered some biscuits and a ginger beer ale. The biscuits, served with some bomb butter (it was reaaalllyyy good, lol!) and some honey - the biscuits were melt-in-your-mouth soft, warm and slightly sweet.

I ordered the chicken fried steak served which came with white gravy, bacon, hot slaw and mashed potatoes with a side of mac-n-cheese with thick-cut bacon.
To be honest, the chicken fried steak need a little more seasoning, just the seasoning from the batter was not cutting it (nothing a lil' hot sauce cannot fix). Everything else on the plate was very tasty, the hot slaw which was underneath the steak added a nice crunch to the meal, as well as the saltiness of the bacon.

Our dining experience was very casual, yet pleasurable and the staff were very friendly. I will definitely visit again for their brunch. If you enjoy good food and a cozy ambiance, The Brooklyn Star should be on your list.

P.S. my friend has the duck wings, they were AMAZING

We also stopped at The Blue Stove located on 415 Graham Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11211. I had the chocolate mousse pie, not pictured, but it was BOMB! I am a HUGE fan of chocolate, especially when it is rich and decadent, just like their pie.
